According to Gregg L. Foege, a printer and consultant who teaches at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), good prints deliver consistent image quality across multiple print jobs, regardless of the type of printing equipment or operator used. "Inkjet printers use small jets of liquid ink to produce images on paper," Foege says. "Good ink delivery is critical because it determines how well the ink spreads and penetrates the paper. If the ink isn't delivered properly, it can cause drops and streaks on the page, as well as poor print quality."

There are a number of factors that can affect ink delivery, including nozzle size, printhead design, paper type and degree of moisture content in the air. Foege recommends that users take note of these factors when printing for the first time so they can troubleshoot problems if they occur.
